Postdoctoral fellowship (20m) in philosophy of mathematics, Nancy / Paris (France)
We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship of 20 months (October 1st 2018 to May 31st 2020) in the context of the French side of the ANR-DFG research program FORMALISM, FORMALISATION, INTUITION, AND UNDERSTANDING IN MATHEMATICS (FFIUM). The project investigates the interplay between informal mathematical theories and their formalization, and the different forms of mathematical understanding that are generated by the process of formalization, with particular attention to mathematical practice.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the realization of the project and to reside in Nancy or Paris during the whole of their grant, by being affiliated to the Archives Henri-Poincaré or the Institut d'Histoire et de Philosophie des Sciences. We encourage applications from young scholars who have received their doctoral degree in the last 5 years with a specialisation in philosophy of mathematics and related areas, and with a proven potential to conduct and publish research at a level of international excellence.
