Job description
The Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities is looking for an Assistant professor in Philosophical Logic and Philosophy of Language. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong record of publications in A-class international peer-reviewed journals, experience with acquiring third party funding, a broad philosophical background, outlook and interests and solid experience with teaching philosophy and logic at all levels, includ- ing non-philosophy students.
We welcome applications from candidates with research expertise in philosophy of language and semantics, philosophical logic or the history of these fields, as well as interests in the interplay of logic with other disciplines. The research of the candidate will be embedded in the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC), and must fit its research profile.
We are looking for a candidate who is able to teach second and third year BA courses in philosophy of language and logic that attract a wide range of philosophy students and fit the profile of the group.
The candidate is expected to take an active role in departmental activities, ranging from research seminars to board memberships and grant applications. Excellent social skills, a deeply collegial attitude, and ability and willingness to take up substantial admin- is-trative tasks are particularly welcome.
Requirements​
- Relevant PhD degree;
- broad philosophical background;
- solid experience with teaching logic to philosophy students;
- research expertise in e.g. philosophy of language and seman- tics, philosophy of logic, or or the history of any of these fields; interests in the interplay of logic with other research areas;
- reliable team worker;
- capable of teaching at BA and MA level.

Appointment
The appointment will be on a temporary basis for a period of no more than two years.
The gross monthly salary will range from €3,400 (scale 11) to €5,288 (scale 12), based on a full-time appointment (38 hours a week) in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
