Professorship in theoretical philosophy, Helsinki (Finland)
The Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies at the University of Helsinki invites applications for a Professorship in the field of theoretical philosophy.
The professorship covers history of philosophy, epistemology, logic, and systematic philosophy. The new professor will be an internationally recognized, dynamic, first class researcher and teacher. While there is no special emphasis on any particular area among these disciplines, it is an important requirement that the new professor shall further the research lines in which the unit of theoretical philosophy has been traditionally strong: philosophical logic and systematic philosophy (metaphysics, philosophy of science, philosophy of language). The unit cooperates closely with the philosophy unit (teaching in Swedish) which belongs to the same department, and the research groups in methodology and philosophy of social sciences in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The closing date for applications is 30 May 2013. Further information may be obtained at http://www.helsinki.fi/recruitment/index.html?id=66423. or from Professor Gabriel Sandu at gabriel.sandu at helsinki.fi.
