PhD student position in Multi-Agent Decision Making, Groningen (The Netherlands)
There is a 4-year PhD position available at University of Groningen on the topic of Multi-Agent Decision Making. Candidates should have a Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, logic, or related fields, and a keen interest in interdisciplinary research.
Context of the position: In human groups (e.g., juries, committees, assemblies), voting is typically supported by a pre-vote deliberative phase that 'pre-processes' individual opinions before they are expressed as ballots for a voting rule. While the application of voting in AI is by now widely established, deliberation is yet to be systematically understood in its mathematical and computational aspects. The high-level goal of the project is to lay the theoretical groundwork for modelling, analysing and designing how opinions are exchanged and evolve, within a group of autonomous decision-makers, toward a collective decision.
