Two full professors appointed at ILLC
Two full professors have been appointed at ILLC as of the 1st of September:
* Arianna Betti: Philosophy of Language
* Robert van Rooij: Logic and Cognition, in particular in relation to the formal analysis of natural language
Arianna Betti was University Research Chair Professor of Philosophy at the Free University in Amsterdam. Next to philosophy of language, her research interests include the history and philosophy of logic and semantics. She was awarded several research grants among which an ERC Starting Grant for the project Tarski's Revolution: A New History. She is a member of the Young Academy within the KNAW.
Robert van Rooij was already working at ILLC as a senior staff member in the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Humanities. His research focusses on philosophical logic in relation to formal semantics and pragmatics of natural language. He led several NWO- and KNAW-funded research projects, such as a VIDI-project on The Economics of Language, and he now supervises an ESF-funded project on Communication and Context.
Arianna Betti is appointed at the Faculty of Humanities and Robert van Rooij at the Faculty of Science. Both will members of ILLC's Logic and Language research programme.
