Comment on the theme chosen:

After L.M. de Rijk's monumental Logica Modernorum of 1962 and 1967, many important texts and interpretations have been brought forward. It is time to look with fresh eyes at the rise and development of supposition theory, especially its early phase. The theme of the symposium was selected by the participants in the closing meeting of the 16th symposium in Udine (September 9th, 2006). You are kindly invited to consider your participation to the symposium, be it as speaker or non-speaker.

Call for Papers:

I kindly invite all participants to send me no later than October 1st 2007 the title of their paper. Each speaker should time his paper to last no more than 30 minutes, so that the next 15 minutes can be reserved for discussion and a short break. To make the time suffice for a thorough presentation and discussion, I strongly urge all speakers to e-mail their hand-outs or even their full papers to all participants beforehands - preferably several weeks before the meeting. A list of participants, with e-mailadresses, will be found in later circulars.

In a later phase you will be asked to provide hand outs. In the conference room a blackboard, a beamer and an overhead projector will be available.

Questionnaire:

  • Name (with title and academic position, where applicable)
  • Arrival day and time: Departure day and time: (Perhaps you do not know yet when you will arrive or leave. Please let me know as early as possible exact dates of arrival and departure)
  • (a) I am a speaker and will pay costs of travel and accomodation by my own means.
    (b) I am a speaker and ask for additional support for hotel accomodation on the part of the organisation of the symposium
    (c) I am a non-speaker, but ask for support. Please specify your costs and give reasons for your request
  • Dietary requirements: please indicate if you have any such requirements.
  • If you plan to give a paper, please give title, or at least provisional title.
  • If you intend to give something else than a conventional lecture, given at the time, please indicate what you intend to do.

I am looking forward to a fruitful and pleasant symposium. I shall try my best to help you in all respects. Dr. Joke Spruyt, Dr. Ria van der Lecq and Dr. Catarina Dutilh Novaes will be at the Symposium and can be contacted during the symposium for further assistance. Please ask me if you need information or whatever else.

Looking forward to see you in Leiden,

Bert Bos.
