Abstract:
Consciousness at the Cutting Edge between World and Brain:
The Interaction between Perception, Imagination, Thought, and Language
Renate Bartsch

This essay explores consciousness from three different angles: First,
from the philosophical point of view, showing the central tasks of
consciousness for representation and intentionality in language use,
design, and rule following; second from the perspective of
connectionist and neuro-dynamical approaches in modelling perception,
imagination, and understanding; and third, from a combined
philosophical and neuro-cognitive/neuro-dynamical view in determining
a standpoint in disputed questions in consciousness research.
