11 - 12 September 2004, 1st international workshop on Views On Designing Complex Architectures (VODCA 2004)

Date: 11 - 12 September 2004
Location: Bertinoro, Italy
Deadline: 12 September 2004

AIMS and SCOPE:

Security and management of information are key issues in informatics, and are among its fast-developing fields. On the one hand, this calls for a continuous attention of the researchers to the most recent developments in these areas. On the other hand, it asks those same researchers to come up with novel ideas and insights, while designing their own views for the growth of these fields.

The workshop aims at providing a platform for young scientist to present their research views on all areas related to the design of complex architectures, with a special focus on the security and management of information. The workshop topics thus include, but are not limited to, the issues reported below.

  • Information Security
    • security protocols
    • privacy policies
    • protocol analysis
    • access control policies
    • intrusion detection strategies
    • mobile secure code
    • language-based security
    • availability
  • Information Management
    • knowledge management
    • data and knowledge sharing
    • component-based software engineering
    • software reuse
    • workflow modelling
    • groupware systems
    • intelligent information systems
    • trust management
    • distributed systems

IMPORTANT DATES:

Submission of papers: June 25, 2004
Notification of acceptance: July 25, 2004
Camera-ready paper due: August 20, 2004
VODCA workshop: September 11-12, 2004

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Submissions should be sent, either in postscript or PDF format, to Fabio Gadducci (). Papers must be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors must clearly explain the contribution of their work in terms of its theoretical and/or practical value, as well as its relationships with the related literature. Submissions must be in English and not exceed 15 pages, and should also include an abstract and a list of keywords.

Preproceedings will be available at the workshop, and we have a preliminary agreement to publish the proceedings in the ENTCS (Electronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science) series. Authors are thus advised to follow the ENTCS guidelines (http://math.tulane.edu/entcs) when preparing their paper.

If accepted, the camera-ready version of the paper must be made available by August 20, 2004; moreover, it should be personally presented at the VODCA 2004 workshop by one of the authors.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION

The workshop will take place directly following FOSAD 2004 (the 4th International School on Foundations of Security Analysis and Design). For more details see http://www.sti.uniurb.it/events/fosad.

Funds are available to support students with an accepted paper to attend the workshop and FOSAD. To apply for such a grant, please email a letter of application to the chair Maurice ter Beek (). Your letter should include a description of your interests in the area of the workshop, details of financial support you have obtained or hope to obtain from elsewhere, and a short summary of your educational background. Applications for financial support are opening after July 25, 2004 (the Notification of Acceptance date).

FOSAD 2004 participants will receive a special discount on the workshop registration fee.
