New ILLC Staff Member: Menno van Zaanen

Herewith we introduce Menno van Zaanen who is one of our new staff members and will be working in the Innovation-Impulse Project with Rens Bod. A small introduction follows:

Starting on November 1st, I will be working as a researcher/postdoc for the Innovation-Impulse project: "Towards a Unifying Model for Linguistic, Musical and Visual Processing". My previous research concentrated on learning syntactic structure in natural language. This research resulted in an unsupervised structure bootstrapping system called Alignment-Based Learning (ABL). Since this system can also be used on different types of data (for example music), this will be my starting point in the project.
